3 types of access panels to get inside your T-Rex gutter

Gutters equipped with the T-Rex are closed and seamless. This feature makes them extremely strong and prevents debris from getting inside. However, what happens when a property is located in an environment where there is dense vegetation? The gutters’ cleaning cycle takes place at an accelerated rate. Under these difficult conditions, the T-Rex® continuous hangerMC can sometimes let micro-debris in, thereby reducing its effectiveness. To address this issue, T-Rex installers have created an access panel located just above the downspouts. There are three ways to install these access panels.

Mr. Gutter, is my roof going to collapse on me?

Source: Flickr

My neighbor was looking at the 5 feet of snow and ice standing atop her home with a detached yet anxious look on her face.

Her side of duplex had fallen prey to heavy snow accumulations, much of which was frozen at the bottom. As her residence had only been built a few years ago, she thought that the structure would easily take this additional load. As my background in gutters is not that far removed from my experience in roofing structures, I told her that I would look into it. Basically, any child walking by was at risk of getting hit by this oversized chunk of snow. Consequently, I was anxious to find an argument that would get her moving. Continue →

Mr. Gutters, there’s a maple forest sitting on the roof!

Shoots of maple

Do you remember Mr. Gutters? Here’s yet another adventure of his!

A year after purchasing a home in a 50-year-old neighborhood, my sister quickly realized that she would not be able to leave her gutters unattended for too long. What she thought was a climbing plant that had seeped through the downspout turned out be shoots of maple (yes, her knowledge of horticulture is questionable). That’s when Mr. Gutters came to the rescue to investigate.
