Alu-Rex > Eavestroughs and rain water management blog

It is very likely that wet leaves will temporarily stick to the top of the T-Rex or Gutter Clean System. However, they will dry quickly and be blown by the wind. Drainage will be as efficient even with dead leaves on top of your rain gutter protection.

Optimal drainage at all times

Indeed, as do dead leaves that temporarily stick to the hood of your car, leaves and debris that fall on top of your Alu-Rex leaf guard will dry quickly. In addition, unlike the hood of your car, the surface area of our leaf guard has perforated holes that allow dead leaves to dry even faster!

Wet leaves remain water-permeable. Water escapes between – and even through – them into the eavestrough. Water always finds its way.

Top-of-the-line protection

Although dead leaves may accumulate on top of the rain gutter, the wind will eventually blow them right off, leaving the surface clear. As demonstrated by independent testing, wind can easily blow dry leaves and debris.

  • A 10 km/h wind will blow wet leaves and around 100 coniferous needles over a length of 1’.
  • A 37 km/h wind will blow 1” (2.5 cm) of pine needles over a length of 1’.

Therefore, although wet leaves may accumulate on the gutter guard, it’s definitely nothing to worry about. Water will eventually be drained and any accumulation will be blown away by the wind.
